Fear... Facing and Fighting It

"In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight.  Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power... Green Lantern's LIGHT!"  -Green Lantern Oath

Hey readers, this is Chris, and let me tell you what I have to say.  We all have fear.  On one hand, this emotion makes us human.  On the other hand, fear can sometimes cripple us from doing something or even worse.  I recently re-watched the Green Lantern movie, because my mom never saw it, and I though it was a good movie.  As I watched the movie, I saw a general theme around it, which was fear.  WARNING:  there might be spoilers, so stop reading now if you haven't seen the movie yet.  In the beginning, Hal Jordan (being played by Ryan Reynolds) said that his job (pilot) requires him to not have fear.  As he gains the power of the Green Lantern, Sinestro states that he's fearless, that fear will cripple Hal in battle and get him killed.  As the movie continues, Hal admits to his fear; thus, making him stronger.  Parallax is the main villain, and his feeds off his enemies' fear.  That's all I am saying about this without spoiling the ending (there's a clip that'll do that for me).

We All Have A Chain; A Chain of Memories

Hey I'm Chris, and let me tell you what I have to say. We've all have great experiences and bad experiences as well. Even when we're not at that place anymore or miss the people that are gone, we'll always have the memories of them. Think of it as a chain of memories. I will say this right now that I do know that there is a game called Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. I know that and I have it. So part of the title wasn't original. Now, without further ado, hit the play button to hear a song that goes well with this. Let's begin.

Here's An Update

Hey everyone, this is Chris and let me give you a little update. As you can tell, I haven't posted any new blog posts in a while. That is because I've been busy with school. What can I say, school has kept me busy in so many ways. Next, I do have drafts of blogs on blogger; they will be out as soon as I finish them. I do have new ideas for posts, so suspect them to be out in the future. Also, I'm asking you, the reader, to send in questions for the blog. One of these questions could be a future blog entry. You can ask me questions about your personal life (I will not put your name out there), or about something that has been on your mind for a while. How do you send your questions? Here's how:

Welcome To The Social Netowrk... I Mean Social Networks Pt. 3

If you read Part 1 and Part 2, then congratulations!!! You are at the final part. If you just started to read this one, go back and read Part 1 and 2. We talked about the video social networks, and regular social networks. Throughout that time between the last blog entry and this blog entry, Facebook has gotten video chat. To tell you the truth, its just Facebook chat powered by Skype. You can even see that when the call is received. But a new innovation in technology has come up; it is called TalkBox. The app came out in mid August. What is it you ask? Well its voice messaging. Yes I did just say that. It is basically an answering machine.

Now the question is it worth the download to your iPod, iPhone, Android, or other mobile device? I would say yes. The reason I said yes is because as I said in the beginning it is an innovation in technology. Instead of just writing text, we're now able to hear each other's voices. That's a step up in technology to me. At first I was skeptical; I thought it was just a fad. However, my brother explained it to me and I realized that my thinking on this was a little bias. The app is good and it is possible to connect the app to Facebook, so you can add you friends from Facebook to the app (if they have it). I would give it a 9 out of 10. Well it's the end of this 3 part blog. Thank you for taking time out to read this and I apologize if it took too long to write this final part. I'll try and write the next one soon. Follow the blog via blogger or via email. Spread the word via Twitter or Facebook. I'm Chris and that is what I have to say.

The Time Has Come; The Day That Starts Your New Life

"I'm gonna reach for the stars
Although they look pretty far
I'm gonna find my own way
And take a chance on today..." - Jean Paul Makhlouf and Alexander Makhlouf from the band Cash Cash

My first year of college has started. This is a huge transition from high school. Its time to get in gear and give it everything I got. But before that, I want to give thanks to high school and the people I've met. Some people will get thanks, while other won't get jack squat. So without further ado, hit play on that YouTube video below. After you done that continue reading.

I Survived the Earthquake of 8/23/2011

Well, this is Chris here with a special blog. Today (August 23, 2011), an earthquake happened. Where did it happen? Well it originally happened in Virginia. This was a 5.9 earthquake. The effects of the earthquake spread throughout the east coast hitting Washington D.C. and many other places. Where was I during the earthquake? I was in a car going to the store. At first, I thought the car was in a dip, since we parked on a slope. Wasn't the case. When I came home, that's when I found out about that an earthquake occurred. On Facebook and Twitter, people were spazzing out and talking about how their phones were out. Now, I live in Philadelphia, and a earthquake never occurs here. So I can understand how people were freaking out. But it went a little out of hand. I understand having news reports on the quake and explaining it to people that we didn't get the full effect. People were talking about 2012 being real and radio station here in Philly were playing Jesus Walks by Kanye West. That is just taking it to far and trying to put fear into people. The people in Japan and Haiti deal with bigger earthquakes. So before people start the 2012 conspiracies, remember the people of Japan and Haiti that dealt with the big earthquakes. Our earthquake was a 5.9 magnitude quake. We kinda felt it here in Philadelphia. Also think about the people in Virginia. I'm Chris, and that is what is I have to say.
P.S.: This is my opinion, so don't attack me. Thanks!

Welcome To the Social Network... I Mean Social Networks Pt.2

Hey everyone, Chris here with part 2 of Welcome To the Social Network... I Mean Social Networks Pt.1. Last time we talked about the 3 social network giants MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter. As time went on and technology progressed, we got webcams. When we got webcams, we also got video chat. The two that a lot of people know about is Skype and ooVoo. In between these two was Chat Roulette. All three were good and they are competing against each other... well Skype and ooVoo are competing. They do have their flaws just like any other social network. This entry might be relatively short. So without further ado, let's begin.

Skype... it's video chatting. They do have a lot of other features such as voice chat and much much more. Skype started around 2003, and it has been going strong for 8 years. It really didn't have that many competition till 2006, when ooVoo came around to say they were better than Skype.

In 2006, ooVoo came to be. ooVoo is considered to b

e competition for Skype. ooVoo does have features like
  • Video Calls
  • Video Conferencing
  • Web video chat
  • File Sharing
  • Video Call recording
That is only a few of them. ooVoo and Skype act alike, so there really isn't nothing to talk about. If you know any other things about these two and some differences, please leave a comment.

Finally we have Chat Roulette, the video social network for complete strangers. Think of it as a game of roulette; you don't know who you're gonna be chatting with. It could be one person, or it can be a whole group. The bad thing is that you don't know what gonna happen after you hit the "Next" button. You may get people who will try to guess your race, and other times you'll get people who actually wanna talk. If you're the unlucky one, you might get someone who's masturbating on camera. And that's where the weird level goes to another level. I've been on Chat Roulette, and there were times when that happened. Just click next or close that and go to Facebook. Chat Roulette should probably be use only if you get EXTREMELY BORED OUT OF YOUR MIND!!!
In conclusion, video chat social network are somewhat the same. Some might make you pay for certain features, while other don't. You may get the one that are extremely weird. Just watch what you're doing on video. In the next and final part, we'll talk about the week old new social network call Talkbox. Once again, this will be short. I'm Chris, and that is what I what I have to say!

Welcome To the Social Network... I Mean Social Networks Pt.1

Hello everyone, Chris here with a new blog entry. We've all been apart of a social network. Whether its MySpace, Facebook or Skype, we've all been in one. As new social networks come out, people start to flock over to them. The latest one is Talkbox. We'll talk about that later on. Social networks have had their strong points and low points. There's been controversy and there have been triumphs. For Part 1, we're gonna talk about the 3 giant social networks; MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. Some we're probably fads or trends, but now think of them as a progression of
technology. Also, this won't be a whole history lesson of social networks. So without further ado
, let's start with a place for friends also known as MySpace.

Myspace was probably the best social network when we were 12 years old. MySpace has been around since 2003. The huge gimmick for this website is the ability to customize your profile. Yeah, you can make your profile the way you want it. This can vary from adding music and videos to actually changing the background pictures of your profile. This social network has you basics; the status bar (to say what your doing), messaging, comments bar, etc. This is good. However as we got older, we needed something more mature. That is when Facebook came to the rescue like
Superman saving Lois Lane. When the children of Myspace got older and went to Facebook, that is when MySpace went down. That and there are tons of pedophiles on MySpace. Now, there are probably some people on there (celebrities, musicians, and people who just kept it), but there are a lot of kids on there that usually lie about their age to get on there (and I know that that happens on a lot of other websites). But hey, at least Tom will always be your friend :D

Welcome to Facebook! This came out of nowhere. When everyone fo
und out about this, we ran like Wile E. Coyote towards it. I'm not gonna tell you about the history of Facebook, just watch The Social Network. However, the movie make creator Mark Zuckerberg look like an ass. Even after so many years of it being out, it is still very popular. You can do a lot of things on it. This can vary from writing a status and having Facebook have you location in the status to "Liking" several pages, status and much much more. We were waiting for something like this. Soon, a competitor came to challenge Facebook. This challenger was a tiny blue bird. Get ready to tweet this, we're on to Twitter!!!

Here we are, at Twitter. This iconic blue bird has been a competitor of Facebook for a long time. Some people ran over to it, while other stayed on Facebook. This social network was launched in July of 2006. Now can you guess what the gimmick is for this? Can't figure it out? Ok, unless you've been living under 2 rocks for 5 years, a person on twitter writes status or in the twitter world "tweets". And that's all you do. People can reply, retweet, favorite you tweets. There are a lot of celebrities on there and President Barack Obama has one as well. Now during this little battle between Twitter and Facebook, apps like TweetDeck, and Twhirl were created. Now a lot of the twitter apps have a Facebook connection to it. So the battle is over???? But the one thing I want to know is why doesn't MySpace have any apps? Eh... doesn't matter.

In conclusion, these social networks took over the internet very quickly. Some are forgotten (sorry MySpace), while others are extremely popular. In part 2, we'll be talking about video chatting (ooVoo, Skype, Chat Roulette). For now I'm Chris, and that is what I have to say! See you in Part 2!!!

Haters Gonna Hate

Hey everyone, Chris here with another blog entry. Haters are what we're gonna talk about. Now tell me, have y'all dealt with haters? Have y'all dealt with people who try to put you down for no reason? Well, odds are they're haters.

Individuality: The True Meaning of It

"There is no individuality if your idea of different is to follow the trend" - Maurice Kain Carter

Hey everyone, Chris Alford here with a new blog entry. Today's topic: Individuality. Now, I've been waiting to do this one since I started Important Things That Are More Than A Status. A lot of trends have been out; from skinny jeans to nerd glasses to even big over the ear headphones. Now I watched this video from hotdamnirock's YouTube channel called "Cut The CRAP!!!" I really did like his video because he talks about how people try to be different, but they look the same because they're following the trend that everyone follows. Some of these fads are still around, while others you barely see. So with that said, check out his channel and let's start.

Cyberbullying... Can't Explain It Any Other Way

"If you bully somebody face to face, and they get upset, you see them cry and be hurt. When it's over the Internet, you can't see the emotional reaction and go along thinking it's no big deal."

-Robin Kowalski

Hey everyone, Chris here with a very important topic today; cyberbullying. This is for everyone who is being bullied through the internet, whether through Facebook, MySpace, or any other social networking websites. This blog is for the people who have thought of harming themselves or taking their lives because of cyberbullying. These social networks were
meant to be used for connecting with old friends, new friends, and making strong connections with people. However, some people don't use it as a friendship maker; they use it as a tool of bullying. As the quote says, when people bully others face to face, you can see the emotions. When you bully people through the internet or via texting, no emotion can be seen. So that bully won't
think they're actually bullying someone.

What is cyberbully? Cyberbullying is when someone uses the internet, or text messages (social networking websites, email, etc.) to bully or harass someone. This can have a extreme effect on someone. Not only is that one bully attacking you, there are other people who jump on it and attack you. It's just like being against an army of people who hate you. It might not be people who you even know. In fact, that person might be bullying you because of a rumor they made up or heard. It's hard to tell your side of the story when people believe in rumors and lies they heard from someone else.

Personally, I don't like bullies. I don't understand why some people attack others because they're different. That makes me angry. But still I watched the movie Cyberbully on ABC Family. When I
watched it, I was absolutely shocked at what I saw. It wasn't right. I was even more shocked at how other people jumped on the bullying train and attacked her. So what is the best thing to do. Tell someone. There is nothing wrong with asking people for help, especially when you need it. Help can benefit you in these types of situations. And always remember to watch what you say on the internet, no matter who you are. Also, don't believe in rumors. Ask the person that the rumor is about if its true or not. This is Chris Alford, and that is what I have to say.

Maturity: Some People Need It

"Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of face within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity."- Calvin Coolidge

Hey everyone, Chris here with another blog enrty. We're gonna talk about Maturity. Now some of the things I say on here is true because its happened to me during the past week. Just a fair warning. So let's begin.

If you haven't read the previous entry "Change: It Happens To All of Us", then you might want to read that one first. So as I said I told my associate that I'm gonna be busy with college and other things. So on Thursday, I went to Chestnut Hill College for my Griffin Day. And I can say it was very good. I took some placement test, had breakfast and lunch, met some new people and had fun (even got a hoodie and foam finger). I was there till 3:30 in
the afternoon. So that's what started it all.

I came home and I went to sleep. I didn't talk to my associate all day because I was busy all
day. I wake up from my nap and I realized that it was 7. So I ate and relaxed. Around 10 at night, something told me to check my phone. So I checked it and I see a text from her. I open it and it said, "I cut ur name on my chest so i'll never forget. Thought u should kno." Seeing, that I was shocked and angry. And there's a couple of reasons for these emotions:

1. Why would harm yourself that way? I already knew she was a cutter, but not to go that far.
2. That seems a little crazy and stalker-ish. I knew she liked me, but I told her on several occasions that we're only friends.
3. It seems a little immature to do that. I told her that I'm gonna be busy, so talking was limited for a while. And I did explain that to here several times.

So I talk to her via Facebook about the text and why she did that. We argued for about 5 minutes, and she logs off. I text her to continue this. She told me "Idc wat u gotta say! It was my choice! It cnt b changed now" So throughout all this time (about 2-3 days), she got angry because I was gonna be busy with college things and other things. That's a huge sign of immaturity. She couldn't handle the fact that I'm not in high school anymore, and that I'm gonna be doing bigger things that are going to help my future. What can we learn from this: You have to be mature about certain things and realize you can't have everything you want. Also, realize change is good sometimes. Throughout these two blogs, I haven't revealed her name. The reason for this is that even though I don't want her to speak to me anymore, I still have a conscious and I know she wouldn't want people to find out about this. Readers, you will never know her name. I'm gonna end this with one more maturity quote.

"Maturity is achieved when a person accepts life as full of tension."

-This is Chris Alford, and that is what I have to say.

Support: Giving It & Not Overdoing It

Hello everyone, whether you're following this blog or just randomly scrolling through blogs and somehow landing on this one. Also giving a shout-out to my readers out in Canada, Germany, and across the United States (you know who you are). Thanks for reading my blogs and continue to read and follow them.

Today we are going to talk about support, giving it and to not overdo it. You're probably wondering; Why is there a picture of King of The Hill on here? Is this a show review? Well to answer the second question, no this is now a show review. For the first question, this is a scene from the episode Bad News Bill*. In this episode, the main theme is support. If you watched the show from the beginning, you see that Hank Hill doesn't really support his son Bobby for many reasons (just watch the show if you haven't). In this episode, it can really be seen. One example is that the coach tells Hank that he wasn't supportive of Bobby when it comes to baseball. Now this is true, and Peggy tells Hank that he wasn't that much of a supportive father.

The coach now gives Bobby support and this is where we shall start at. It was alright for the coach to give Bobby support, since Hank wasn't giving it. It helped Bobby gain confidence, and that has to be the best product of support. However, the coach overdid the support. It made Bobby think he was a very good player (which he isn't). So to simplify what the coach did, he got his expectation up too high.

Now what we need to learn to do is to give support but to not overdo it. Just like with the coach, there is a chance that we may give that person extremely high expectations. With that, when that person fails, they'll feel like crap. See what you can learn from television. That's all for this one. My opinion on this is that give support from the beginning. And to remember to say things out of love. If the person is bad at something, say it out of love and talk about the things they are good at. You're helping them out by telling them the truth and not giving them an illusion.

This is Chris Alford signing off!!!

Drama and Stupid Ish: Your SMH Moments

Well hello everyone, today is July 10, 2011 and last week was fun and irritating in so many ways. I'm not gonna go into too much detail in, but you can guess what happened based on the picture. So what we're gonna talk about today is drama and stupid ish. More specifically how to deal with it. Please note that this is my way to deal with this type of stuff. You may have other way, and they might be better than mine. You may get a laugh out of it and you might get angry, but please enjoy it. Let's begin.

Work started this week for me, and it was pretty good. What I'm gonna talking about in the next couple of paragraphs is what happened before work. So I'm in the car on the way there, and my cousin is telling me something he heard about one of my friends. This friend of mine during the school year was pregnant, but lost the baby. However, my cousin told me that she was pregnant 3 times before and lost those kids. I was sad, but then I got a little angry at the fact of how stupid she is. See the picture up there... You guessed it; her boyfriend is much older than her. She's 17 and he's about 24 or 25 years old. I can understand the first time you got pregnant was a mistake, but the other 3 times you were really trying. And another thing you should know is that she is planning to marry this guy when she's 18. At first, I thought she was an airhead, but she is literally the epitome of the word stupid. And here are the reasons:

1. This dude is TOO OLD: I think that one is quite basic to understand. And if he's having sex with her, that's statutory rape.
2. You still have a life to live: You're still in high school, and you still got college to think about. She probably won't listen to me because she might think or me as a loser.

Also I have a feeling that your mother is a little stupid, or she must be in here own little world. Truly a SMH moment. Well thats the biggest amount of drama and stupid ish I ever heard. Well just like in Sonic CD, "I'M OUTTA HERE!" Y'all have a good night...

The Grand Final Part 2: The Aftermath

Its the day after graduation. I woke up today and didn't feel like P Diddy. I woke up with determination, and realization. I realized that I gotta enjoy this vacation while it last, because when school comes around, I'm gonna be working much harder. Today was awesome. Had to do some minor tasks today. Then I went to see something awesome, and that was Green Lantern. It was an awesome and epic movie. Had some free passes. Got 2 posters as stuff to remember this awesome day. I don't know what else to write, except for this:

“In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil’s might, Beware my power… Green Lantern’s light!

Goodnight everyone!!!

The Grand Final Part 1: The Day That Sets Our Future

Its finally happened, graduation. The excitement and the nervousness was in the air. But it turned out extremely well. I can say now that I'm an alumni of my high school and officially a college man. The real world is waiting for me, and I'll be there soon. When I was in elementary school, I never thought of high school or even college. But I'm here. When I was a kid, I wanted to be an animator, but now I want to be a teacher. I would never be here if it wasn't for God, my mom, and family and friends that support me. I know they're proud of me and that they want the best for me. I feel blessed today. I'm happy that this is all over and that a new chapter of my life will start. I'm gonna meet new people and have new experiences. Class of 2011, We Finally Made It!!! Congratulations!!! I wish all of you the best in whatever you do, whether its school or a job.

The Apple Products Triplets

Time to go after Apple. Once again, I'm not hating on Apple or people who have Apple products because I have an ipod Shuffle 2GB. So Apple makes a lot of products around the same time. For example, when I brought my ipod Shuffle, it was the latest one. About a year later, a new and updated one came out. The one thing that I don't like that Apple do is their trial and error. How about they do this, take some more time to fix the problems your products have. They probably won't do this because they want their money. Now that I got that out of the way, let's talk about the Apple Triplets we all know; the Apple ipod Touch, Apple iphone (3GS and 4), and the new Apple ipad (including the ipad 2).

People buy these products. However; you have people who buy all three. I'm not trying to offend anyone when I say this, but the people who buy all three are easily persuaded. When you look at all three, there are no differences. Now we all know that the ipod touch can play music, and have apps like there iphone and ipad. Now people can get free phone and texting apps (such as Google Voice, or Text Free) on the ipod touch. Doesn't that

defeat the purpose of the iphone. And since the triplets have that same app store, doesn't that make the iphone more useless. And now the triplets have cameras, so all three products have FaceTime. Another thing that all three have is that they're an ipod. Do you really three "phones", three "ipods", and three products with the same apps from the same app store?

So the question is now, would you buy all three or just get an ipod touch? Here's my theory:"an ipod touch can be a phone with the free calling, texting and facetime apps. An iphone is basically an ipod touch with a huge ass bill. If you get an ipad or ipad 2, you are a sucker. It is literally an overpriced ipod touch."

That is all I gotta say. Please leave a comment(s). I really want to know your opinion on what I said. Have fun reading this and I'll see y'all next time.

The Countdown till the Grand Finale

Graduation is almost here; 3 days to be exact. What can I say, 4 years of high school went by kinda quick. I remember the orientation we had at the school, the 3rd mod lunch with the old lunch room and the 4 arcade systems, and so much more. We all had our good times and bad times. High school has taught me many things outside the classroom and introduced me to so many people. Truly a picture is worth 2011 words. I'm gonna miss some people, while others I won't. That life; not everyone will like you. I'll end this short blog with this; we finally made it. Congratulations to the HSES Class of 2011!!!

The Strange Power of Contradictions in the Media

My name is Chris Alford, and a new blog entry is finally in. Today, I'm going after television. To be a little more specific MTV. Now before anyone says that I'm hating for some reason, I'm not; I'm telling my point of view. Now let's start!!!!

We all know that MTV (Music Televisi
on) plays more than just music. Shows like The Hard Times of RJ Berger, Skins, Teen Wolf, and True Life are played on here. Some of these shows promote certain things, such as safe sex, abstinence, drug awareness, and many other things. However; these shows that promote awareness and safety also contradict themselves. Lets look at RJ Berger for a moment.

The Hard Times of RJ Berger is a really good show. Its really understandable; the
nerd on his journey to popularity though different ways; especially with his "god-given gift". A lot of the first season is based on RJ trying to get the crush of his life and dreams Jenny Swanson. In the process, he tries (Season 1 finale) to lose his V-Card*(I think everyone knows what that is). He loses it to his friend Lily. I believe that this season promoted sex A LOT!!! Season 2 does the same thing, but tones it down a little. Season 2 continues where season 1 left off. RJ gets Jenny, they break up, RJ goes through a lot of crap (parents splitting, etc.), and hooks up with a hot junior named Amy. This isn't a review, so lets get to the point. The season ends on a good note; parents back together, he's Mr. Pinkerton and he gets Amy. What could go wrong..... SHOULD
OF NEVER SAID THAT. Lily tells RJ that she's pregnant.... AND HE'S THE FATHER!!!!!

Now what was the point of this? This show contradicts itself. Certain episodes promote sex through various characters having sex. On the other hand, they promote the consequences in many ways as well (Lily being pregnant, Miles catching a STD). This probably sends mix messages to the viewers. Next up is Skins.

Now I really don't need to give a background on this show.... it was confusing for me. I missed episodes 2 and 3, but after that I watched the others. What can I say, its nothing but sex. If it isn't sex, its the characters doing drugs or trying to have sex. This show really does promote sex. I've only seen on one occasion where they attempted to show the consequences (Tony giving Michelle and Tea chlamydia).

That's it for this blog. What can we learn from these shows. They contradict themselves, but they're here because we as viewers like this and watch it. But its our jobs to not act out the things that happen on television. Realize and remember this; television is scripted and life isn't. The screw-ups that happen on television are on a piece of paper. Never base the things you do on a television show. I realize I went after MTV, but there are other shows and networks that do the same thing. I'm Chris Alford, and this is definitely bigger than a status.

Do People Ever Learn?

Well, its really hot out and what better to do then typing a new blog entry.

I was in graduation practice, and I noticed one particular thing throughout the practice. You really want to know. Well here's the answer: Why is that people don't listen to direction? How come people learn from their mistakes?

I don't know why the people in my class realize that this is suppose to be a classy event, but they clearly play around too much and won't stay quiet. We could barely hear the songs we're suppose to sing. Do they think that they're invincible? Despite all this, I hope they learn soon, or there's gonna be huge problems. Less than a week left, so let's get this show on the road!!!

Jack and the Smarts

We all heard the saying; "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy." Well, does anyone know the true meaning to this saying? Some people do and some people don't. This means that you can have all the book smarts in the world, but if you don't have any street smarts, then you're a dull person; one-dimensional. How can those type of people survive in this world where you need street smarts. Those type of people tend to stay to themselves. You need street smarts to make it in the world. Another reason you need street smarts is so no one manipulates you or treats you like crap.

There's another side to this story.... "All play and no work makes Jack stupid." Even though this is made up (probably is true), this actually makes sense. Having only street smarts is a bad thing. How can you survive in the corporate world without having book smarts/ an education? Probably can't survive at all. When it comes to life, you gotta have both. So Jack, listen closely... play around but do some work. Go pick up a book.
